Our Destinations Friends had a wonderful time with the manatees! Our visit to Central Florida’s Blue Springs brought the manatees up close. We saw these gentle creatures enjoying the warm springs, along with the historic Thursby House. Our time in  Deleon Springs was certainly a great experience - from the Old Spanish Sugar Mill and preparing pancakes at our own table to a Manatee cruise into the springs. Our Captain showed us the beauty of Florida's waterway scenery and wildlife. A wonderful day!

BEAUTIFUL! BEAUTIFUL! BEAUTIFUL!
When listing the top favorite places to eat, our traveling friends always list the Mission Inn at Howey-in-the-Hills as one of their favorites. Destinations Friends returned with rave reviews of a beautiful experience. Champagne Brunch at the Mission Inn was amazing - from the service to the setting to the extravagant offerings - Omelets to caviar - salmon to cheesecake. Our homebaked bread form the authentic German Bakery, The Yalaha,  was a great remembrance of our day. Lakeridge Winery was certainly a highlight to round out our tremendous day. The Grand Finale - Russell Stover Chocolates was a great way to end our adventure. Lovely!

Our adventure takes us into Alachua County, where we will step back in time at the Dudley Farm Historic State Park. The farm dates back from the 1880 to the 1940’s. Established before the Civil War, the 18 original structures create a picture of time past. From the general store to cane syrup complex, witness time past. Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, best known for penning “The Yearling”, has invited us to stop by and experience the fireplaces, porches and windows of this Cracker House, constructed in 1890. We’ll stop by and sample Old Florida at the restaurant named after her famous novel, The Yearling.
